First, please let us introduce ourselves...

BikeNet is a non-profit, 501c3, grass-roots organization that supports urban trails in and around the Billings, MT community. We are people like you that want to create a better place to live. We are individuals, families, and businesses that join BikeNet to increase awareness for trails in our community, raise money to use as matching funds for trails, or simply go out and enjoy them.

On behalf of BikeNet, I would like to take a minute to visit with you about a new fund-raising project that we are very excited about introducing into the Billings community - the "Share the Road" campaign. This nationwide campaign continues to gain momentum in many states, from local, grassroots events to official "Share the Road" state license plates. BikeNet has decided to join in this year, beginning with a BikeNet "Share the Road" jersey/cycling gear, eventually progressing on to an official MT "Share the Road" license plate. All proceeds will go to support BikeNet.org and it's greater cause of a safe and practical multi- use trail system in Billings and the surrounding area. BikeNet hopes to use this project to spread the "Share the Road" message beyond Billings onto other cities across MT and even across the U.S., thanks in large part to the internet and word of mouth.

There is a catch to purchasing a jersey or any of the other cycling pieces that will help you be comfortable on the bike and get the good message across to everyone - and that's accountability. BikeNet wants to use the jersey as we ride by example, obeying all traffic laws and riding responsibly on the many fantastic roads we have here in MT as well as the rest of the country. When drivers see a cyclist (or runner) on the road with the jersey, hopefully they will quickly become aware of the potential dangers involved and will subsequently drive with greater caution, just as the cyclist should be riding with respect and caution to the flow of traffic. Bottom line, the jersey is not meant to be a "shield," but rather, it is meant to be a message of cooperation and respect.

So, everyone that jumps on our "Share the Road" bus and buys a jersey, will hopefully agree to truly share the road, thus bringing our community closer together.

Please remember that all proceeds benefit BikeNet.org
